Chuck Allen is a snowboard and surfing legend. A longtime high school surf coach in southern California, Chuck was one of the most passionate board sports enthusiasts of his era and worked tirelessly throughout his life to establish core standards for each discipline. His passion and enthusiasm, combined with his systematic teaching practice is responsible for propelling the evolution of both sports. Chuck passed away earlier this year on February 14, 2011, succumbing to emphysema at 74 years of age.

To celebrate his life and love for board sports Bear Mountain is partnering with the United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) to dedicate a day of riding in Chuck’s honor! This Saturday, December 18th will mark the 2nd Annual Chuck Allen Memorial Ride Day. Bear Mountain invites you to join them for a day of shredding the slopes in memorial of a man who has done so much to influence and progress the sports that we love so much.

The day will feature live DJ’s, raffles and an atmosphere that cannot be beat! Resort guests will get the chance to join hundreds of fellow snowboarders and skiers at the top of Chair 5 and collectively drop-in for the Chuck Allen snake run down to Central Park. There will also be an opportunity to donate to the USASA Chuck Allen Scholarship Award for student-snowboard athletes.

Its going to be a fantastic day at Big Bear!
