East Coast Snowmakers are Stockpiling Snow at Holiday Valley

Mother Nature has been a real tease this year. Some regions of the nation are getting dumped on while others are toiling away crafting man-made snow in the hopes that they’ll have a solid base ready to receive the next big snow. Holiday Valley, in New York State has been hard at work accumulating a stockpile of man-made snow, and have switched their snow guns on at every opportunity.

They sent us over some shots of the 15-foot mounds of fresh manmade snow kept on their Northwind Trail. They are the result of 2 nights of ideal low temperatures in the teens. After a day of letting the snow “cure” the snow operations crew will work their magic and spread the snow around the entire resort using their hydraulic grooming tractor.

There is a storm slated to roll through Ellicottville, NY on Friday, which will allow operations to get the slopes groomed up for weekend skiing and snowboarding on Saturday. Holiday Valley Ski Resort currently has 6 of their main slopes open, and have made snow on an additional 6 more with the goal of opening them over the weekend.
