Vail to Build Worlds Fastest Gondola

It would be like Vail Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States, to propose the construction of a new gondola lift with heated and cushioned seats, as well as wi-fi so guests can “check-in” on their facebooks or make a reservation for dinner after a great day of skiing.  The gondolas will hold 10 passengers and will become the worlds fastest gondola of its type in the world, creating a 40 percent increase in uphill capcity. The new gondola will drop its ride time from 9 to 7.5 minutes.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to continually reinvest in Vail and to offer our guests a truly unique experience as they ride up the mountain,” said Chris Jarnot, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain. “This new gondola will establish a whole new standard for comfort in lifts and – combined with speed and uphill capacity increases – will significantly improve the guest experience at Vail Mountain.”

Construction of the gondola is proposed to begin immediately following the closing of the mountain in April and will be operational for the opening day of the 2012-2013 ski season.

This lift sounds awesome, now I can’t wait to get my buns on those nice warm seats!

Heres a pic of the proposed lift!
