Heavenly Mountain Resort in Lake Tahoe has been feeling the love on Facebook with its recent announcement of acquiring over 100,000 “likes”. The Heavenly Facebook Page hit the 100,000 mark on December 30th at 9:58am leading it be achieve the second-largest online fan base among any ski resort in the world!
“With social media being such an integral part in communication these days, we are very excited and proud of this milestone,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager. “We think this speaks a lot to how our guests feel when they visit Heavenly and the positive experiences they take away from their time on the mountain.”
Heavenly’s social media team has utilized Facebook to engage its fans through a variety of contests, prize giveaways and photo/video blog postings. They’ve also gotten in on the Twitter scene using their handle @skiheavenly to update followers on current mountain conditions, lift statuses, and recent photos.
This past December, Heavenly launched their search for the next Heavenly Angel on Facebook. The online campaign encourages contestants to submit entries and photos. The field will be narrowed to 10 finalists and will be voted on by the page fans. The top four contestants will win a trip to Heavenly Mountain Resort and a professional photoshoot.
The next Heavenly Angel will be determined by the most number of Facebook votes and will be featured in a 2012/13 Heavenly advertisement and as Freeskier Magazine’s Gear Girl in the 2012 Buyer’s Guide.
