Mother Nature finally decided to bring the party to resorts across the United States this weekend. Skiers and snowboarders got a chance to partake in a bounty of fresh powder in Colorado and Lake Tahoe. Vail Resorts got on average, nearly a foot of new snowfall, with the mountains of Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone all getting hit. Lake Tahoe, where snow has been even less frequent was graced with over 20 inches of snow on the summits of Heavenly and Northstar.
Colorado has seen several storms over the past couple weeks and new snow means additional terrain gets opened. Breckenridge Ski Resort was able to open up 250 additional acres of advanced terrain thanks to being able to fire up their upper mountain lifts on Thursday, which includes the T-Bar and 6 Chair.
Additionally in Lake Tahoe at Heavenly Resort, skiers and riders now have access to 30 trails accessed by 24 lifts, featuring top-to-bottom skiing and riding on 3,500 vertical feet and more than 19 miles of terrain.
Back in Lake Tahoe, Northstar currently has 39 open trails accessed by 16 lifts, featuring top-to-bottom skiing and riding on 2,280 vertical feet of terrain. Taking every opportunity available the resort has continued to open new terrain throughout the season. Most recently they’ve even able to open Iron Horse, which is one of the most popular advanced trails located on the backside of the mountain. They’ve also opened Woodchuck and Ax Handle, which are intermediate trails located on the front of the mountain just before the storm arrived.
Skiers and snowboarders looking to check out the conditions for themselves can also take advantage of some great lodging deals if they book their accommodations by January 31st.
