Powder Days and X-Games…What Could Be Better?

Like many resorts across North America, Aspen/Snowmass was in a snow funk — the key word being was. This past weekend, the heavens opened up and dumped over 15 inches on the areas four mountains, bringing the seven day accumulation to 25 inches!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The snow arrived just in time for the 2012 Winter X Games, which kickoff at Aspen’s Buttermilk Mountain later this week. In their 11th year at Aspen, the Games have become a signature event, bringing athletes and fans from around the world to the exclusive resort town. This year’s competition promises to be bigger and more exciting than ever before, featuring some of the most challenging courses in the business.

Beginning Thursday, January 26th and running through Sunday, January 29th, more than 200 of the world’s best athletes in skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobile will throw down their best performances in hopes of winning one of the the most coveted medals in action sports.

Don’t forget, Winter X Games is completely FREE to the public; so, don’t miss your chance to witness legends and Olympians including Shaun White, Gretchen Bleiler, Lindsey Jacobellis and others live. In addition to the action at Buttermilk, Aspen/Snowmass will host a FREE Bud Light Hi-Fi concert featuring AWOLNATION at the base of Aspen Mountain on Saturday, January 28th at 5:30pm.
