The O’Neill Experience with Sebastien Toutant (“Seb Toots”) is in full swing and yesterday, fans got an extra special treat with their first up-close and inside look at the real reason Seb came to Aspen: X Games medal competition.
Friday marked Seb’s fourth day in Aspen, but his first opportunity to earn a medal…and boy, did he deliver! After
starting the day by qualifying for the Slopestyle Finals based on a third place finish in the elimination round, Seb set his sights on the Big Air competition.
With temperatures dipping into single digits, Seb heated up the mountain with a third-place finish, thanks in part to his double cork Cab 1260. Check out his run here. Competition in the Big Air was fierce: Canadian rider Mark McMorris claimed his first Winter X gold thanks to a massive backside triple cork mute 1440, for which he scored a 49 out of a possible 50 points and Norwegian Torstein Horgmo, who earned a perfect score for his own backside triple cork 1440, took home silver. Seb’s bronze medal marks his second-consecutive third place finish in Winter X Big Air…congrats, Seb!
O’Neill skier David Wise was also a big winner on Friday, placing first in Ski SuperPipe elimination.
For a complete recap of the day, check out these pics, provided by the O’Neill Experience, of Seb taking in Winter X activities, hanging out with O’Neill teammate, 11-year-old skier, Aspen Spora and David Wise celebrating his first-place finish. Saturday’s schedule includes the much-anticipated Slopestyle Final, where Seb will look to repeat his gold medal.
