The two-man team of Billy Demong and Bryan Fletcher combined Saturday to land sixth in a team event at the site of the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme. The team was seeded fifth after the jump, but fell one spot in the two-by-7.5k cross country race. The duo’s combined efforts helped close the gap, finishing just over 19 seconds behind Norway’s winning team of Magnus Moan and Mikko Kokslien.
Norway’s winning team was eighth after the jump, but both skied the fastest cross country legs, making up a .58 deficit to take the win. Demong and Fletcher started the cross country race trailing by a .36 second deficit, however, they were able to close the gap to finish over 19 seconds behind Norway. A second team consisting of Johnny Spillane and Taylor Fletcher finished in 10th, coming in at about 1:50 behind first place.
World Cup weekend continues in Val di Fiemme, site of the 2013 World Championships, tomorrow with an individual Gundersen.
