Squaw Valley has announced the launch of their new website: squaw.com. Designed and constructed with the user experience in mind, Squaw Valley’s new website features enhanced visuals, new web cam displays, interactive functionality and a completely redesigned mega navigation bar that lets users find their target destination with fewer clicks. The new site officially launched in late January 2012.
“Skiing and snowboarding are inherently very social activities,” said Tracy Chang, Squaw Valley’s interactive and CRM director. “We wanted our guests to take their conversations beyond the slopes by infusing social components on our site. Park goers can comment what they think of one of our 5 parks right on our website either by tweeting and tagging #SquawParks or via the facebook comment plugin that is integrated on the park pages.”
The simplistic and clean design is in keeping with Squaw Valley’s recently updated brand. Its design, function and layout support the company’s “Beyond Extraordinary” brand messaging, while providing visitors with all the information they need to plan their day or vacation at Squaw Valley. Its magazine-like layout and large imagery allows Squaw to showcase the resort’s amazing beauty, terrain and amenities.
Overall, the resort has received positive feedback regarding the new site.
“The new site lends itself to show off Squaw’s beauty and our guests appreciate that,” noted Chang. “Specifically, guests have commented that they really enjoy the new navigation bar, video and photo galleries, webcam page, and the integration of the trail map and lift status which allows guest to really look at the mountain and runs they’d like to ski.”
Additional features and functionalities coming soon to the new site include an interactive village directory, 360 virtual tours and a mobile version of the site.
To design and develop the site, Squaw collaborated with two outside agencies. The site was designed by Eleven Inc., a San Francisco based integrated marketing firm, and developed by Noble Studios, a full-service digital agency in Reno.
In addition to the new website, Squaw Valley’s new smartphone apps have also received rave reviews. Highly popular since its launch on December 18, the Squaw Valley iPhone app is now in the Top 100 most downloaded applications in the Sports category of the App Store. The app allows skiers and riders to access live lift updates, check conditions and track your speed and daily performance. Squaw’s new app is available for iPhones and Androids and can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
