12 Inches New Snow: Heavenly Opens Milky Way Bowl

heavenly_logoAfter a foot of new snow between last night and this morning, Heavenly Mountain Resort has decided to open the Milky Way Bowl, one of the areas for advanced skiers.  There has been 18 inches of powder since Monday, leading Heavenly to open the entire upper mountain, including the Milky Way Bowl’s off-piste terrain.  2,400 acres, 50 percent of the resort, are now open for to skiers and riders just in time for President’s Day Weekend.

“Mother Nature has finally come through at a perfect time, as we head into the President’s holiday. Our guests can expect a great variety of terrain and Lake Tahoe’s best surface conditions for their trip,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager. “February and March are traditionally our snowiest months, and it looks like the storm door may be opening. We hope this means big snow for the rest of the season.”  

Heavenly encourages guest to keep to the open trails as obstacles my still exist off the maintained runs.
