The best 13- and 14-year-old alpine racers in the East will compete for championship status at the USSA Alpine Eastern J3 Finals March 8-11 at Killington Resort. Hosted by Killington Mountain School (KMS) and Killington Ski Club (KSC), about 175 racers from Virginia to Maine will fly through the gates set on the Panic Button/Needle’s Eye trail. Competition will be tough as there are qualifying spots on the line for athletes to make it to the Eastern Junior Olympics as well.

As part of KMS’ continued growth and expansion of its programs and offerings, the Northeast ski academy now maintains and executes all USSA and FIS events held at Killington Resort. Chuck Hughes, a veteran coach with international coaching and officiating credentials and deep ties to KMS and Killington Resort, is the department’s new events manager this season.

Super-G training begins on Thursday, March 8 with Super-G racing on March 9. Giant slalom racing takes place on Saturday, March 10 and the weekend finishes with slalom racing on Sunday, March 11.\

Eastern J3 racers compete at the state level in qualifying series for selections to regional events. The Eastern J3 Finals and J3 Junior Olympics are major season-long goals. A complete schedule and more information can be found here.

Killington Mountain School is a fully approved Vermont independent school whose mission is to inspire students to pursue excellence in academics and athletics in a culture that promotes integrity, leadership, responsibility, and respect.
