Perfect Powder at Heavenly and Northstar

Heavenly LogoThere are high expectations at Heavenly and Northstar this week.  In the literal sense.  Snow has been piling up over a foot high in both places, and it continues to fall.  The National Weather Service sees more snow in Lake Tahoe’s future and is calling for another two and a half feet at higher elevations on Wednesday.

It’s going to be a powder week, and skiers and snowboarders will have access to the best Heavenly has to offer.  There are 72 trails accessed by 22 lifts with top-to-bottom skiing and riding and more than 2,400 acres of terrain.  If terrain parks are more your style, try High Roller on the California side.  This newly open experts-only park has seventeen features including two jumps.  If that’s not enough to satisfy your adventurous side, there are two other parks which, when combined, have a total of 63 features, the most at Lake Tahoe.

“Winter has made a comeback, and with more snow in the forecast this week, we are taking advantage of it with plans to open more terrain in the coming days,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager.

Northstar LogoNorthstar skiers and snowboarders can celebrate the snow with 88 open trails accessed by 14 lifts with top-to-bottom skiing and riding in all areas of the mountain.  There are two terrain parks here, as well.  The rebuild of the resort’s 22-Foor Superpipe is still in progress but promises some exciting action at completion.

“The advanced terrain on Lookout Mountain and The Backside are always popular areas for skiers and riders, but for powder hounds, they are THE place to be when the storms roll through Tahoe,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer at Northstar. “Our mountain provides great wind protection, and even when big storms move through the area, Northstar is known to keep the most lifts turning.”

Skiers and snowboarders on a budget can take advantage of the Lowest Price Guarantee on lift tickets.  Purchase them a week in advance at snow.com/lifttickets or through Vail Resorts Central Reservations, and get guaranteed lowest price available for that day compared to the window rate.

It’s shaping up to be a beautiful week, so go play in the powder!
