Mountain High Resort in Southern California has just announced the launch of a rocking new mobile app that allows visiting skiers and snowboarders to constantly connect with their friends and family during their days on the snow. The app provides the ability to track and share slopeside activities and quickly access details about the resort such as weather conditions and terrain status.
The application was developed by a company named Treeline, which utilized their TrailTap technology to power the app — making the Mountain High App the first to offer such a robust technology-bundling. The app is capable of synchronizing real-time weather data, social media, rider and resort-generated images and video. The app also takes advantage of cutting edge GPS location technology that lends itself to providing incredibly accurate trail maps and a slew of other options previously reserved for sci-fi movies.
“Mountain High’s new app gives their guests a clear advantage in maximizing the amount of fun they have on the mountain,” said Treeline Interactive’s Creative Director, Jake Fields. “Currently, no other ski resort app offers the unique mix of features found on the new Mountain High App.”
Best part of the app? It’s free! The application can be quickly downloaded via iPhone and Android marketplaces.
Users can update their social networks on Facebook and Twitter with the number of runs they’ve completed, vertical feet achieved, maximum speed reached, photos/videos taken on the slope, number of days on the snow and a ton more! Once the day of riding and gliding the slopes of Mountain High concludes, you can then compare your stats and achievements with your friends and family through your smart phone or computer. Data throughout the entire season can be maintained and compared by season pass holders.
“The Mountain High App is a ‘guest experience’ game changer,” said John McColly, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mountain High, a longtime technology leader among ski areas nationally.
With the app, users can “check in” at Mountain High on Facebook, have that status posted on their page, and/or connect with their Facebook friends that are also checked in at Mountain High. These friends can be noted on a simple list or their recent locations can be plotted on the app’s user-friendly interactive trail map, identical in appearance to the traditional, James Niehues-illustrated Mountain High paper trail map. The Mountain High App is one of very few ski-area apps with an interactive map that includes the names and positions of trails, lifts, restaurants and bars and the other resort details typically found on traditional paper trail maps.
With this interactive trail map, users of the Mountain High App can instantaneously locate their exact positions on the mountain and quickly begin exploring the terrain around them on their iPhones and Androids. Users can also easily create illustrated maps of specific lifts, terrain parks and runs categorized by difficulty or grooming status. They can also request panoramic photos and videos of specific locations on the trail map.
Additionally, the Mountain High App provides skiers and snowboarders with real-time, fingertip access to multiple live cams and the latest news on weather, road conditions and even if their favorite pros are on the mountain. The app also features a calendar of on-mountain events and deals on lodging, lift tickets, lessons, food, drink and equipment. Throughout the season, Mountain High will introduce new features for the app, including competitions for prizes.
