Thanks to a recent winter storm, which dumped as much as 3 feet of snow in some parts of South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort has opened additional terrain, including the double-black diamond, Mott Canyon! With 3,600 acres now open, Heavenly currently offers the most skiable terrain at Lake Tahoe.
“We’re really pleased to be able to open Mott Canyon experience for our guests. We’ve got the most open terrain, the best conditions and the most variety.”for our guests this weekend,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manger. “We’re continuing to push forward and create an exceptional experience for our guests. We’ve got the most open terrain, the best conditions and the most variety.”
Mott Canyon offers expert skiers and snowboarders some of the most challenging terrain in the region, with 40-degree pitches, deep snow and true North-facing aspects that keep the snow surprisingly winter-like.
With March being Heavenly’s second-snowiest month on average, there is still hope for skiers and snowboarders that the best conditions this season are yet to come. “It’s never too late to come out and enjoy the winter season,” Sonntag said. “We’ve got great skiing and riding conditions, our terrain parks are the best in the region, and we’ve got some exciting concerts and festivals coming up.”
Highlights of upcoming events include, the third Winter Snow Blast on Saturday, March 17th as well as back-to-back events scheduled from March 31st to April 15th. The annual Spring Loaded at Heavenly combines the best of spring and winter with two weeks of parties, pond skimming, concerts, the Gunbarrel 25, a Ski Patrol Fundraiser and springtime mischief. Prices start as low as$145 per person for three nights lodging and two days of skiing or riding at Heavenly. Photo courtesy of Heavenly Ski Resort
