Mikaela Shiffrin tied for ninth in a windy Are slalom to land her fourth Audi FIS Alpine World Cup top 10 of the season and secure a trip to the World Cup Finals. Four-time overall champion Lindsey Vonn was on a mission to add to her 1,808 point total, but skied out a few gates from the finish. Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany took the win.

Shiffrin may ski like a veteran, but the young athlete is just about to turn 17 this Tuesday! Despite only being in her rookie season, Shiffrin has managed to qualify for the top 25 World Cup Finals!

The women now move to Schladming, Austria for World Cup Finals and have a downhill training run on Monday.

Mikaela expressed her readiness to move onto the next competition, “I’m really excited about racing in Schladming. It feels goodt to be top 25 in the world, but honestly, I’ve been dreaming about winning World Cup races since I was five years old.”
