It was a beautiful day on Saturday, March 10th as Mountain High hosted the 11th annual “Sponsor Me” contest. Presented by Active Ride Shop, Rome SDS, Spy, 32 boots, Analog, Mountain High, Monster, and Vestal, Neff Headwear, and Skull Candy, the Sponsor Me contest was for the up and coming rider looking for an arena to showcase his or her talents.
The format, judging, and prize were the same as last year, but it was the course that changed, so those who thought they were showing up to your average rail jam were in for quite a surprise. There were three Divisions to this event: the biggest of the three was the sponsor me event, the winner getting a rep rider sponsorship from the headlining sponsors. Also included in the contest was the Women’s division which included prize packages, and Groms (14 and under). The sponsor me division also had finals for the top 10 riders to find the overall winner. The terrain features were constructed by the elite Mountain High terrain park staff.
There were also 5 features that are set up to help promote creativity in the rider.
Judging was headed up by the key industry people who have their eyes on the industry searching for some new talent. Judges focused mainly on skill, creativity, difficulty, and of course, overall impression. Competitors sessioned each obstacle for 15 minutes then rotated to the next obstacle.
The results were announced on Saturday following the contest.
