Good news for anyone looking to get in some last minute skiing or riding! Breckenridge Ski Resort is extending their ski season for an extra two weekends in April as an excellent ending to their 50 Wishes campaign. As part of their 50th anniversary season, the campaign has been granting wishes from guest submissions from all over the world.
“We had one wish left to grant, and asked our guests and fans via our social media channels what they wanted us to grant for our final 50th wish,” said Pat Campbell, Breck’s SVP & COO. “We heard loud and clear from many fans like Lisa Doane and Jason Brooke that they’d love to see us wrap up this season-long promotion in the best way possible…by extending the season.”
Extending the season is rare, and this will mark the first time Breck has made the commitment since their 1996 merge with Vail. They are the only ones in Colorado to do so at this time.
All 2011/12 season passes will still be valid during the extra time, and $50 lift tickets will also be for sale. As an added bonus, free parking will be offered in gondola lots. The full list of extended season services can be found on Breckenridge’s website.
“This is a great way to end our 50th anniversary season,” continued Campbell. “April is typically one of the snowiest months of the season and we have excellent conditions which we expect to last through the end of April. This is an opportunity for our season pass holders and skiers from around the world to take advantage of a few extra days, and enjoy more of the spring skiing we all love here in Breck.”
There will be many deals in honor of the extra ski time. Guests can take advantage of special lesson prices with a half-day adult lesson costing just $59, and a full-day children’s lesson for just $99. Starting at $210/night, book a room directly at the base of Park 8 with all the amenities at One Ski Hill Place, a RockResort.
Peak 8 will be the only area with open lifts and terrain Friday through Sunday, April 20-22 and April 27-29 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day.
Keep in mind, there’s no need to wait for the end of April to enjoy all that Breckenridge has to offer. Spring Fever, a month-long celebration, starts this Saturday when the town will get together for their annual St. Patrick’s Day party and happy hour specials around the mountain. For anyone that enjoys good food, end the weekend right with the Spring Fever Chili Cook-off at the Ski Hill Grill Patio on Sunday. The resort’s top chefs will have a throwdown to decide whose secret chili recipe will be used in the kitchens for the 2012-2013 season. Pick up a free beverage and cast your vote!
Spring Fever is presented by Cadillac and will run through April 15. It’s the best time of year at Breckenridge with spring skiing and riding and over 40 scheduled events scheduled during the 30-day festival. There is something for everyone, including BudLight Concert series, KSMT’s Spring Beer Festival, Ripperoo’s Mascot Olympics, the Breck 5 Peaks Mountaineering Race, the 16th Annual Imperial Challenge bike and ski race.
