While spring is on the minds of some individuals around the country, the folks up at Mount Washington can only think about snow! Forecasts are calling for an intense snowstorm that could potentially rival the storms from back in Christmas 2010 where the mountain received the most snow it had ever seen in one week.
“The accumulations have been tracking very similar to that big week last season,” explains resort spokesperson Brent Curtain. “The skies have unleashed 2 metres of snow in the last few days and everybody is stoked.”
Mount Washington now has the deepest mid-mountain snowpack in Canada at 520cms. The resort has received over 1100cms of total snowfall this season. Forecasts are calling for continuing light snowfall throughout the week with temperatures in the -4C to -7C range.
“With spring right around the corner, we’re offering pristine mid-winter conditions,” Curtain adds.
The resort is planning on operating in full force, allowing skiers and snowboarders to ride daily at the Island mountain until April 22, 2012.
