The Sun Valley Film Festival is coming out of the gates with a strong list of debut indie films, documentaries, children’s programming, web series, and tv series releases. The Film Festival opens with a kickoff party at Whiskey Jacques’ on Thursday, March 15 and goes until Sunday, March 18.
The Ski Channel’s own documentary features The Story and Winter are both nominated under Best Documentary. Winter will screen on Friday, March 16 at 2pm, and The Story will screen on Sunday, March 18 at 10:30am.
“We wanted to do something in line with where we live,” festival Chair Bex Wilkinson said. “We want to get the ski freaks into the audience and keep them for the rest of the weekend.”
There are more than 60 entries, including world premiere dramatic films, documentaries, children’s programs and web and television series. Festival Director Sabina Dana Plasse said they are excited to highlight these special films.
Events are all around town, though films will be shown at Rick Kessler’s Magic Lantern Cinemas and the Sun Valley Opera House. Tickets and information can be found online at www.sunvalleyfilmfestival.org or at the festival office across from the cinemas in Ketchum.
