“When we look back in the record books there will be an asterisk which will say, ‘No help from Mother Nature, the Okemo team did it all on their own,’” said VP and General Manager Bruce Schmidt.
The unseasonably warm weather is responsible for melting the snow that Okemo’s snowmakers worked so hard to keep on the trails all season. But despite mother nature’s efforts to end the ski season early, the Okemo Resort Team pulled together and kept the slopes alive.
By keeping the season alive, Okemo is able to host FestEVOL, a two-day celebration of snowsports, mountain lifestyle, live music, innovative natural brands and a sustainability-focused eco-village will feature concert performances by Barenaked Ladies and The Pete Kilpatrick Band on Saturday, March 24, and Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Guster on Sunday, March 25. Tickets are still available.
Even though the end to the ski season is inevitably nearing, Okemo transitions into a summer resort. The Okemo Valley Golf Club is planning to open for the season earlier than usual. Okemo’s Adventure Zone will be introducing some new features this summer. A zipline canopy tour adventure is being added to the Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster, Lumberin Cal Mini Golf, The Maples Disc Golf and The Stump Jumper Bungee Trampoline. The Friday night Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series will be returning this summer and Okemo will host a variety of events and activities.
