The day after the Verbier Xtreme, the Freeride Juniors at Verbier took place, where the ski world witnessed a star emerge. Gian Ragettli, a Swiss young gun on Marker Völkl Freeski Team, destroyed the competition, winning by a large margin. Ragettli’s dominating performance, combined with a third place finish in Fieberbrunn, won him the overall win in the Freeride Juniors.

Gian Ragettli, 17 years old, attacked Verbier by first dropping a big cliff and sticking the landing effortlessly. He then continued his dominance carving his way to the bottom where he finished with a dazzling, massive backflip, earning him a nearly perfect score of 9.90 out of 10. Ragettli secured his first place overall standing with ease.

His success did come as a bit of a surprise, even though the Ragettli family is known to be a crazed freeski family. This success in the Big Mountain realm has proven that he has much more potential waiting to be tapped into. Marker Völkl, Team Manager Jean-Claude Pedrolini, was understandably excited. “Gians’s run was absolutely unbelievable! Even though he is still quite young he landed those massive cliffs with ease. I am happy to see that our junior riders are focusing on more than one discipline and I am sure that we are going hear lots more about Gian Ragettli in the future.”
