The best big mountain snowboarders are coming to the California resort of Kirkwood March 29 to April 1. Kirkwood received massive amounts of snow during the month of March, making it the perfect spot for The North Face Masters of Snowboarding’s second stop. Presented by PrimaLoft, this three-stop tour is the only open competition for big mountain snowboarders, with an overall prize purse of $50,000.
“”We are excited to bring the tour here this year,” remarked Kirkwood’s Director of Marketing Kevin Cooper. “With a rough start and a mild mid-season it was hard to visualize the event actually taking place this year, but then there was March! We had nine feet in five days last week and we are track for 44 more inches here by end of day today, so the stoke level could not be higher!”
The North Face Masters provides opportunity for both established and up-and-coming riders to show their stuff and put down a winning run. The two day competition is sure to provide great stunts and competition at the excitingly steep venue, The Cirque, which will be broadcasted live at http://thenorthfacemasters.com/.
Top female rider Shannon Yates is looking for a repeat win against a stacked, competitive female field. Kyle Clancy and Jonathan Penfield are favorites to be the top competitors in the men’s competition.
The North Face Masters of Snowboarding is presented by PrimaLoft and supported by The North Face, Subaru of America, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bern, Lib Tech, Gnu, Mountain Sports International, Comcast Sportsnet, Snowboard Magazine, Clif Bar, Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, Crystal Mountain and Kirkwood Mountain Resort.
