The ski industry is absolutely buzzing after a weekend of rumors broke way to confirm that American ski racing sensation and three-time Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso has officially joined the Head Skis Family.

Last Friday, during the U.S. National Championships a keen observer would have noticed Julia sporting a pair of Head boots as she skied to victory in the super G. Needless to say, the social sphere was atwitter (pun-intended) throughout the weekend with snow sports fans taking to their Facebook and Twitter feeds to speculate upon the gear switch up. Earlier today, in an exciting announcement it is now confirmed that Julia Mancuso and Head Skis have signed a three-year agreement.

Mancuso, who has been rocking Volkl skis since 2010 and Lange boots since 2005 will make the transition to being fully outfitted by Head skis, boots and bindings! Starting April 2nd, the seven-time World Cup winner will be blasting out of the gates on Head equipment through the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games and into the 2015 Vail/Beaver Creek World Championships.

With the U.S. Ski Team wrapping one of the best seasons in ski history, all eyes are on American skiers as we edge ever closer to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. While the international ski community is ecstatic about this game-changing news, no-one is more excited than Ms. Mancuso. She will be poised to take her already stellar skiing to even greater heights.

“I am psyched to ski for HEAD. Watching their success these past years on the World Cup is really impressive, they obviously know how to make skis that win, and I am honored to join such a great group of athletes,” said Mancuso, just days after earning her 15th U.S. National title.

“I am really motivated for these next years with the Olympics and World Champs in Vail coming up. I like how the skis and boots feel on the snow, and I look forward to this summer to dial everything in! These next years are going to be awesome.”

Mancuso will be in good company on her new equipment. She joins fellow U.S. teammates Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller and Ted Ligety who have all been leading the World Cup circuit on their Head equipment. Julia’s boyfriend Aksel Lund Svindal of the Norwgian team is also a member of the Head World Cup Rebels team.

“Due to her personality and her great versatility and skiing skills Julia is a great addition to our team,” said Rainer Salzgeber, race manager for the HEAD World Cup Rebels.

It’s going to be a thrill to see how Julia’s performance on the slopes progresses with the new gear change. Head is well-known throughout the industry for being among the best in the game when it comes to providing athlete support. They afford unparalleled access to their team of world-class engineers to develop equipment tailored to the specific needs of the athlete. Whether it is in the tennis or skiing industry — Head associates itself with athletes residing at the top of their sport. The sole aim is to facilitate progression beyond what has already been established as “the best”.
