A few fans from Lindsey Vonn’s Ski Girls Rock program were given a chance to ski with the sports hero when the Olympic gold medalist and World cup Alpine Ski Champion returned to Vail for her homecoming celebration this weekend.
The program, launched exclusively at Vail Mountain this season, has been wildly successful. It is a program offering young girls age 5-15 a new premium lesson inspired and designed by Vonn herself. Lesson groups are small–never more than four students–and offer personal attention. The lessons are headed up by devoted women instructors. The idea behind the program is to improve skills while building self-esteem and empowering girls through sport. It is also a place to bond with other skiers, build confidence, and develop teamwork and social skills.
The skier recently talked to The Ski Channel about her wins, her records, and what she plans to do when she eventually retires.
