There will be a new ski destination opening up in China later this year. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., the largest international luxury hotel operator in China, recently announced the creation of the new facility located in Changbaishan. The dual branded facility known as The Westin Changbaishan and Sheraton Changbaishan Resort will open in August 2012. The dual branded resort complex is going to be the first of its kind and is being built adjacent to the slopes of Changbai Mountains, one of China’s most popular ski areas.

“We look forward to introducing both Westin and Sheraton to Changbai Mountains with this spectacular, new ski resort complex where guests will enjoy world-class amenities set against the backdrop of one of China’s most visually stunning mountain ranges,” said Stephen Ho, Starwood’s Senior Vice President of Development for Asia Pacific. “China is both our fastest growing global market and our richest source of loyal travelers, and we expect that this dual-branded Starwood resort development will resonate with Chinese travelers who stick with the brands they know and love.”

The Changbai Mountains are known around the world for being one of the most scenic locations to visit in China. The 494,000-acre natural reserve was established to preserve the pristine environments and robust eco-system. The mountain range runs extends through several countries, and supports some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the country.

The Westin and Sheraton resort complex will feature ski-in/ski-out access, along with all the luxuries of life one could ask for. The resort is located a short six miles from the Changbaishan Airport making travel to the mountain a breeze.

For those of you who have never considered going to China for your next skiing and snowboarding vacation — this may be a good place to consider.
