Remember those rear entry boot, classy sweaters and neon ski suits everyone said you’d never wear again? Prove those people wrong! This Saturday, April 14, is Retro Ski Day at Squaw Valley. Multiple events have been scheduled for a day of fun both on and off the slopes with a throwback to the good old days. Retro attire is highly encouraged in honor of Squaw’s glorious roots.
Clip into some Rossi 201’s and start shredding some of the 3,600 acres of legendary terrain, because at noon, there are going to be some serious options. Freestyle ballet with renowned athletes? Or hot tub party of the year?
Head to High Camp to meet up with Olympic Gold Medalist Jonny Moseley and three-time freestyle ski ballet world champion Bob Howard for a free, truly retro Hot Dog Freestyle and Ski Ballet Clinic. There will also be freestyle demonstrations by two-time Olympic Medalist for freestyle demonstrations Lane Spina and National Ski Team member and World Cup freestyle Thom Brisson.
If hot-tubbing is more your speed, live it up at the Retro Pool Party at High Camp Hot Tub with some tunes courtesy of DJ Zeb. It’s been said to be the hottest pool party since Baywatch. And that’s saying something.
Both the ballet clinic and the hot tub party are over at three o’clock, but save some energy, because the fun doesn’t stop there. Leave the slopes behind and make your way down to the KT Base Bar for some live music from The Nibblers from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. If your retro gear hasn’t paid off by this point—if it hasn’t, you’re not wearing it right—enjoy some $3 Coors specials at the bar. Only those in costume can take advantage of the offer, so plan ahead and go crazy! It’s going to be an excellent day.
