We all know the phenomenon of pulling out you ski jacket from the closet and discovering forgotten treasures from the season before. Usually it results in a joyous reunification of lost items and a burst of nostalgia – or at least a five-dollar bill. But what if you gave that jacket away without checking the contents of its pockets?
A Georgia man has recently made the stomach-dropping revelation that the ski jacket he donated to Goodwill last week contained an engagement ring meant for his girlfriend!
Josh Miller had hidden a $3,500 diamond engagement ring in the pocket of his black jacket with gray stripes. He was waiting for the right time to pop to question to his girlfriend, Cara Epstein. He had dropped it off on Monday to the Goodwill located on Roswell Road in Atlanta, GA. The good dead turned tragic when Miller realized his mistake on Wednesday.
In an interview with WSB-TV, Miller explained, ”I didn’t know what to do, or what to say, or how to feel. I called Cara immediately, but she thought I was joking.”
The jacket most likely hit the sale racks on Goodwill on Monday or Tuesday, and was sold soon after. The only hope left is that a Good Samaritan finds the engagement ring and seeks out the rightful owner.
Hopefully the recent media attention will lead to some good news for the unfortunate couple…
Check those pockets people! There might be more than a weather torn trail map stashed in your gear.
