Vancouver’s Mt Seymour had a great winter season and a high turn out for skiers and snowboarders. This past winter has been Mt Seymour’s snowiest season in a decade, with a current base of more than 600cm of snow. Skiers and snowboarders have come out in near record numbers. Spring pass sales alone more than doubled compared to last year. The mountain and its visitors have even more to look forward to next season after the resort undergoes $5 million in capital improvements.
The big change is going to be the replacement of Mystery Peak Chairlift with a high-speed quad. To celebrate this improvement and to provide a memento for their loyal skiers and snowboarders, Mt Seymour decided to sell each of the old chairs for $150. Proceeds from each purchase will go to support inner-city schools in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. The goal is to introduce youths to an active lifestyle and teach them how to ski and snowboard.
These chairs sold like hotcakes, and after one day are completely sold out! At this time every chair from Mystery Peak Chairlift have been spoken for. The mountain is also selling chairs from Lodge Chairlift, which is only being renovated – not replaced. At this time there are a little less than 50% left of the Lodge chairs.
