Looking for some last minute mountain time?  You’re in luck.  Kirkland Mountain Resort will remain open next weekend, May 4-6, 2012, as snow season comes to a close.  Unfortunately, beginners might be left to enjoy the lodge, as the lifts remaining in operation access intermediate and advanced terrain only.  Chairs #6, Cornice Express, #10, Wagon Wheel, and #11, The Reut, will be running from 9am to 4pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

“There is still enough snow at Kirkwood to allow us to stay open an additional weekend for our valued guests,” said Casey Blann, Kirkwood general manager. “You can’t beat the gorgeous weather we have had in Tahoe the last two weekends, and the spring skiing for next weekend looks to be just as good, or even better.”

The resort has not yet decided whether or not to stay open after May 6th.

In the spirit of getting ready for next year, don’t forget to get your 2012-13 pass!  Pick up the new Tahoe Local Pass that provides access to over 10,000 skiable acres between Heavenly, Northstar, and Kirkwood.  For just $419, ski any day of the week at three of the best resorts in Tahoe.

If purchased before May 13, 2012, the season pass will come with an entry to the 50 Nights of Free Lodging Sweepstakes.  In celebration of Vail Mountain’s 50th anniversary, Vail Resorts is putting 50 nights of free lodging on the table.  The winner of the drawing will be given the opportunity to spend over seven weeks at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood Resorts next season.  This epic prize is worth nearly $40,000.

So grab a pass, and you could be spending next ski season in style!
