The Volkl racing department is stoked about their golden addition, and with good reason. Twenty-six year old, Andrea Fischbacher, has some serious velocity and Volkl is the lucky recipient. It’s a family reunion as Austrian native, Fischbacher, joins fellow European, German Volkl ski manufacturer, for the Alpine Cup World Circuit. In addition to her 2010 Olympic gold medal in Vancouver, Fischbacher’s impressive resume includes two World Cup wins, a bronze in 2009 World Cup Super- G in Val-d’lsere and second place in the World Cup downhill in 2008/09. She was also deemed “Austria’s Woman Athlete of the Year” in 2010.

The time has come for Fischbacher to set aside her Atomic skis and click into her new Volkls. After a long run with Atomic as her sponsor, Fischbacher has decided to switch to Volkl.

“I did intensive tests while looking for the best equipment for my skiing style. When I tired the equipment for Volkl, it just clicked- from the first moment I felt super fast on the snow. Everything about skiing Volkl makes a terrific impression: professional and yet like family! The best conditions to give my career yet another boost,” says Fischbacher.

Fischbacher’s not the only one excited by the change. Volkl Racing Director, Klaus Gattermann, expressed, “I’m very pleased that Andrea will be skiing with and for us. I’m certain that our equipment and support team will help her achieve personal best performances- because she’s certain to be among the favorites for the 2012 World Cup in her own back yard in Schladming.” We expect great things from this European match-up- one of Austria’s best skiers and Germany’s best ski manufacturer.

To further compliment Fischbacher’s talents, Volkl has announced three additional newcomers that will provide the company with an absolutely stacked team roster. Joining the team are Eva- Maria Brem, top ten finisher in World Cup GS events and team competition winner at the World Cup season finale, Framcesca Marsaglia, top twenty finisher in 46 World Cup starts, and Marc Digruber, Austrian national champion in the Super Combi.

The Volkl team is shaping up to be a serious threat in the Alpine World Cup Circuit, and are definitely worth watching as we approach the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
