Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort is teaching kids to love the mountains at an early age with their new summer sports camp. Kids ages 10-15 are invited to enjoy all that summer in the Wasatch Range has to offer. Do they like to mountain bike? Done. Is swimming more their “thing?” How about hiking or climbing? Snowbird has it all.
Professional coaches take participants through training during morning and afternoon sessions in various sports. Their lunch break opens up a variety of other awesome activities including the Aerial Tram, Alpine Slide, Peruvian Chairlift and Tunnel, Mountain Flyer, Climbing Wall, Bungy Trampoline, Ropes Course and Mechanical Bull. Boredom and downtime is the enemy of summer camps.
“Snowbird’s Mountain Sports Camp is a great way for kids to learn new skills on a natural playground,” said Maggie Loring, Snowbird Mountain School Director. “The coaches are excited to inspire the kids to connect with the mountains and teach them fundamental skills they will use throughout their lives.”
The camp is designed to educate campers in more than just the basic skills need to do the sports they love. Team-building, nutrition for athletes, and bike care lessons are all on the schedule, teaching kids lifelong skills. The week will culminate with a multi-sport competition and barbeque for campers and their families. It’s going to be loads of fun for everyone involved!
Snowbird’s Mountain Sports Camp is from August 6-8, from 8:30am to 4pm each day. Each kid will be assigned a locker for gear he or she would like to leave overnight. Bikes will be locked up in Creekside Lodge.
For the younger crowd, ages 4-12, Camp Snowbird is a great alternative and is offered Mondays through Fridays from June 4 until August 17, 2012. Swimming, hiking, science projects, arts and crafts, are all on the table.
For more information or to register for the camp, call (801) 947-8222, or download the registration form.
Summer activities (excluding the Aerial Tram) will open Friday, June 8, 2012. The first Tram ride won’t be until Friday, June 15, and the resort’s annual Brewfest will be June 16 and 17.
