East coasters definitely endured a difficult season for snowfall. Luckily, the pros at this year’s US Open left some snow for the hungry skiers and snowboarders planning to come out to Stratton on Memorial Day Weekend.
The mountain resort is hosting the 3rd Annual Mountain Mayhem Rail Jam, which is southern Vermont’s final jam of the season. Skiers and snowboarders will get a final opportunity to pit their freestyle skills against the resort’s top features. The event is set to take place on Sunday, May 27th. Top performances will earn some awesome swag, prizes and bragging rights to help maintain their baller status until next season!
Registration takes place near the gondola from 9-10am on the day of the competition. Cost of registration is $25, and helmets ARE required. There will be a DJ on the scene to keep the beats flowing, and a BBQ to keep the good eats coming! The kids will be jibbing and jumping until 2pm.
The Mayhem Rail Jam is going to be awesome. However, rumors are flying that the weekend’s true highlight is going to be the Mountain Mayhem Mudder on Saturday, May 26th. Participants will get down and dirty in the mountainside mud as they navigate a course of obstacles on the Sun Bowl’s Nordic trail. The 5K race kicks off at 10:30am. Pre-registration can be completed at Active.com, with an early-bird registration of $25. On-site registration is also available for $40 at the event from 9-10am.
The weekend of fun culminates in a finale concert featuring the musical styling of Trevor Hall, Cas Haley and Justin Young. The music begins after the Mayhem Rail Jam, on the golf course, from 4-7pm on Sunday, May 27th. The cost of a concert ticket is $15, and is available online or on-site. All proceeds will go towards benefitting The Stratton Foundation.
