Some of the world’s most elite cyclists will face breathtaking views and literally breath-taking heights as they endure the final stretch of the 2012 Stage Six Amgen Tour of California this Friday. Snow Summit once again hosts this epic finale at a grueling altitude of 7,000 feet.
Cyclists face a 115-mile climb, from the scorching desert heat of Palmdale to the arduous mountain altitude of Big Bear. It’s no wonder Stage Six is widely considered the most brutal stage of the Tour.
“We are honored to be the host of the finish site for the Big Bear Climb which represents one of the most difficult stages of the race,” said Chris Riddle, Vice President of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain Resorts. ”Snow Summit will be offering free activities for all spectators providing an impressive view of the international field of elite cyclists as they complete a defining stage of this world-recognized cycling event.”
For the less extreme zealots, Snow Summit Resort will be hosting a free Lifestyle Festival where spectators can enjoy food and drinks from vendors, listen to great music, and witness the finish line action. Snow Summit encourages all ages to partake in the fun. Festivities begin at 2 p.m with food, entertainment and views of cyclists on Jumbo Tron located at Snow Summit Resort, 800 Summit Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA.
