Treble Cone is gearing up for a big season of snow in New Zealand.  Right now, they’re getting hit with at least one storm cycle a week, setting up some great conditions early this winter.  This morning, 20cm of powder was measured in the Saddle and a cold dusting down the front side.  More is expected by the end of the day.

The resort has a series of exciting events planned this season including ZUMWOHL on Ice, an epic ice carving competition scheduled for July.  Only eight artists will be allowed to enter and will fight it out for the NZ$1600 cash prize pool among the top four sculptures.  The finished products will be on display at the resort and on Facebook and will be open to votes in person or online.

The resort will offer freeride and race camps over the school holidays in July.  Inspire Snow Sessions will be going on through August and will be complete with snow video feedback and trampoline sessions, this program will help participants take their freestyle skills to the next level.

Interested in being on the other side of ski school?  Try ski and snowboard instructor courses.  The resort’s Bring a Mate deal allows you to bring a friend and save NZ$500 on the cost of the three or seven week courses.  As an added bonus, Treble Cone professionals will help you secure a job in the northern hemisphere.

Treble Cone is the background for part of the upcoming movie, The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey, and was named one of National Geographic’s World’s Best Ski Towns.  New Zealand is well known for the spectacular natural landscapes.  And with 10% beginner, 45% intermediate, and 45% advanced terrain, skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels can enjoy it from the slopes of Wanaka.
