Okemo Resort LogoOkemo Mountain Resort’s Adventure Zone is flying into summer with some exciting new additions on their list of activities.  Sawyer’s Sweep zipline tour sits on the mountain behind the Resort’s Jackson Gore Inn and will be equipped with a rope ladder, suspendd bridges, tree platforms, and seven ziplines that rise 40-50 feet above the ground, the longest of which is 900 feet.

This epic two-hour tour takes out groups of up to eight people at a time lead by two expert guides.  The adventure begins with 30 minutes of Ground School–safety first—and will depart ever half an hour between 8am and 3:30pm daily.  It’s going to stay open year-round, offering a unique experience in every season!

Slacklining is also in the mix this year.  This is a growing sport in which a one-inch nylon ribbon is stretched between two anchors—similar to a tightrope, but with slack—and is often close to the ground.  Experts can bounce around and perform impressive tricks on the line.  Okemo has set up a slackline for guests to show off their balancing skill free of charge.

Also new this season is Segway Personal Transport tours and a rock-climbing pinnacle.

The Amp Energy Big Air Bag, introduced in January, has been attracting quite crowd as well.  As a giant inflatable pillow akin to those used by Hollywood-movie stuntmen, can be used by skiers and snowboarders to practice jumps on the mountain.  At 30 feet wide and 50 feet long with two air chambers, one to maintain stability and one to sooth landings, it reduces fear of serious injury for those looking to get airborne.

The Adventure Zone made its original debut last summer and continues to offer the Timber Ripper Mountain Coaster—a mountain coaster nearing speeds of 30mph, Lumberin’ Cal Mini Golf, The Stump Jumper Trampoline Bungee Jump, The Maples Disc Golf Course, Twiggy’s Snack Bar and The Ripper Arcade and Gift Shop.

Visit Okemo’s website for hours of operation and ticket prices.  The Adventure Zone will open for the season on May 26, 2012.
