United Airlines just made travel to Steamboat Springs much easier.

United Airlines released that they will offer a nonstop flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Steamboat/Hayden Airport (HDN) for the upcoming 2012-2013 ski and snowboard season.

The service will operate on weekends from December 22, 2012 to March 24 2013, using United’s 66-passenger regional jet, CR7. Since the launch date on June 8, the public can now buy tickets for the upcoming winter season. One of the main reasons for the flight is convenience for not only Californians, but also International ski and snowboard enthusiasts from countries like Australia.

“Skiers and snowboarders now have convenient flight options to reach Steamboat and its incredible Champagne Powder snow from across California,” Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales Rob Perlman said. “International travelers, particularly from Australia, will immediately experience the benefits of this flight with convenient one-stop connections in both directions and the best access seen in decades to Steamboat-Ski Town, U.S.A.”

Australia has become one of USA’s top international markets during the winter season. This flight makes it easy for international travelers to enjoy one-stop connections in both directions with United Los Angeles service. For example, the United Sydney flight arrives in Los Angeles at 9:48am, allowing approximately 2-1/2 hours to clear customs and make the new flight to Steamboat at 12:45pm. On the return trip, depart Steamboat arriving LAX at 5:28pm; then enjoy ample time to connect to the Sydney departure at 10:15pm.

This is not United’s first flight service to Steamboat. In fact, the airlines offers daily nonstop winter service from Houston (IAH), Saturday nonstop winter service from Newark (EWR) and daily nonstop year-round service from Denver (DEN). Steamboat is one of the most conveniently accessed ski resorts in Colorado, just 22 miles from the Steamboat/Hayden Airport.

Last season, the Steamboat/Hayden Airport completed the final portion of it’s $15 million improvement plan, unveiling a new passenger arrival area, second baggage carousel, full service mail level restaurant, walkway linking ticketing and baggage claim, expanded TSA passenger security entry, improved concessions and passenger amenities including a large gas fireplace and panoramic window views.

Steamboat will be celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this winter. The resort encompasses 165 trails, 3,668 vertical feet and nearly 3,000 skiable acres with six peaks filled with world-class groomed cruisers, bumps, steeps, meadows, legendary trees and four terrain parks.

All travel to Steamboat including the new United Los Angeles flight can be booked through Steamboat Central Reservations (SCR), which represents the majority of lodging properties in the area and offers the greatest value and convenience with customized packages. Below you can find flight details from LAX to HDN during the upcoming winter season:
