Looking for one more chance to hit the snow before giving in to the heat? In an exciting turn of events, Mt. Bachelor will reopen for business Friday, June 29 through Sunday, July 1.
While there hasn’t been any new snow in the past few days, the resort staff is hopeful. And thanks to yet another season with over 500” of powder, it’s easy to understand why. It’s 32 degrees at the 9,000’ summit today and 45 degrees in West Village. Keep your fingers crossed.
The Summit Express and Pine Marten Express lifts will be up and running from 7:30am to 1:00pm, as long as conditions are favorable. Beginners up for a challenge amidst a bluebird day are welcome to join the fun, but only intermediate and advanced terrain off the summit will be ready to ride. Grooming will be limited.
Skiers and snowboarders can pick up daily lift tickets for $30 apiece or a reduced-rate ticket for all season, midweek and 12-day pass holders for just $20 at the Westwood Village base area. Go early, because the first 250 guests will score a commemorative T-shirt for free! Giveaways will be going on throughout the weekend.
The parties didn’t end with winter, so join the fun at Pine Mountain Lodge on both Saturday and Sunday for live music by The River Pigs, a four-man band influenced by rock, Americana, blues, and soul based in Bend, OR. Take advantage of the beautiful weather with an outdoor barbeque and bar at the West Village Sun Bar and the mid-mountain Pine Marten Lodge.
What better way to prepare for your Fourth of July celebration than with time in the snow? For more detailed description of which runs will be open, go to Mount Bachelor’s website. And check weather conditions here.
Mt. Bachelor’s official summer kickoff, complete with scenic chairlift rides and Sunset Dinners will be on July 6.
