The nation’s top athletes gathered last night in the chic Elevate Lounge, Los Angeles, to celebrate an incredible season for US Ski Team stand-out, Lindsey Vonn. Red Bull kicked off ESPY week by celebrating the two-time Female Athlete of the Year ESPY Award winner and 2012 ESPY Award nominee by toasting sports’ greatest with an exclusive, invite-only “Sweet 16″ party overlooking downtown LA. Powered by Under Armour and Oakley, party guests enjoyed cocktails by GT Vodka, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and sweet treats by Chef Waylynn Lucas of Fonuts, with sounds by DJ Spider and DJ Kedd Cook.
The Red Bull sponsored athlete showed up promptly to the red carpet in a gorgeous GUESS by Marciano white dress, showing off her great figure with black heels to compliment the outfit. Her entourage consisted of her stunning sister and plenty of friends all excited to celebrate Vonn’s success.
A-list celebrities joined the accomplished athletes on the red carpet, all with positive energy as they spoke highly of the professional skier. Guests in attendance included NFL stars Terrell Owens, Clay and Casey Matthews, NBA star Kris Humphries, Dancing With The Stars’ Cheryl Burke, and The Ski Channel founder, Steve Bellamy, who has had the pleasure of watching the talented athlete rise to the top over the years.
“Lindsey was the shining star of The Ski Channel’s film, “The Story,” documenting some of the world’s best skiing and the lives that have impacted (and been impacted by) the sport,” Bellamy shared. ”Lindsey is one of the most poised and charismatic athletes, beautiful inside and out. Her accomplishments in skiing go beyond the race course, and she clearly deserves the ESPY Best Female Athlete nomination.”
Freestyle skier and 2012 ESPY Award nominee, Kaya Turksi, was also present and looking fabulous for the evening. Her amazing accomplishments in Slopestyle competition won her several X Games gold medals, and a nomination for 2012 ESPY Best Female Action Sport Athlete.
Other action sports stars in attendance included pro skier Seth Morrison, snowboarder Louie Vito, skateboarder Ryan Sheckler, and surfers Maya Gabeira and Erica Hosseini.
The Ski Channel asked DJ Spider as he entered the building, what the celebration would entail: “I heard Lindsey loves hip-hop, so I’m going to get everyone up and dancing with her to her favorite beats.” He fulfilled the task, as the stars enjoyed the dance floor and kicked off the ESPY week in style and good company.
