SnoCountry Ski Areas Association announced today that ski industry personality Halley O’Brien would be joining the organization as the host of a new program called the “SnoCountry Snapshot”. Since its inception in 1968, SnoCountry Ski Areas Association has made it their mission to inform, educate and motivate individuals to participate in snow sports and mountain-based activities. The not-for-profit member-based trade organization reaches millions of listeners and viewers across the nation through its presence across radio, television and digital networks. SnoCountry Snapshot will be available in over 35 key winter destination markets during the upcoming 2012/2013-ski and snowboard season. Whether you are a hard-core snow sports enthusiast, a causal participant or its your first time strapping into a pair of skis or a snowboard — Halley and SnoCountry are going to inspire you to get out on the snow!
The new program will provide audience members with a comprehensive look at each weekend’s weather and snow conditions, upcoming events and activities. All winter long, viewers can count on Halley O’Brien and SnoCountry Snapshot to supply them with the inside scoop on the latest trends in mountain lifestyle.
“We are very excited to work with Halley on this new program,” said Tom Cottrill, president of SnoCountry Ski Areas Association. “Her passion for snow sports and the mountain lifestyle, combined with her knack for storytelling made her an easy choice for hosting this original new program and showcasing all that our resort partners have to offer.”
Halley O’Brien has been making serious moves in the ski industry, bringing her unique blend of story telling to skiers and snowboarders across the country. The young up-and-comer began her career in the ski and snowboard industry at Vermont’s Mount Snow Resort as a Snow Reporter, and also worked at Mountain Creek in New Jersey and was honored by Ski Area Management (SAM) Magazine as one of the “Top 10 Under 30” in the industry in 2011. Most recently she was producer and host of Vail Resorts’ Snow Squad and made her national television breakthrough on The Weather Channel with “No Boundaries,” airing Saturday mornings on the Weekend View. Halley also is a regular contributor to The Ski Channel entertaining and informing audiences with her featured editorials and Sunday Waffles video series.
“I’m very happy to have the opportunity to showcase resorts across the country while bantering with likeminded skiers and snowboarders,” O’Brien said. “There are so many great stories to tell and I can’t wait to work with the SnoCountry team to get creative with it. It’s going to be a fun winter.”
Ski Resorts that are interested in getting in on the action may participate with the SnoCountry Snapshot through snow conditions information included in all episodes throughout the 2012-13 season. The opportunity to be exclusively featured through episode purchases shot on-site is also an option for any resort interested in highlighting their on and off-snow amenities, events and lifestyle activities.
Skiers and snowboarders located within the scope of SnoCountry’s broadcast can catch The SnoCountry Snapshot on Thursdays through Saturdays. The 90-second segment airs multiple times all winter long throughout New England on NESN; New York City on News12, and numerous stations from the Rocky Mountain Region to Philadelphia; Washington, D.C., North Carolina; Montreal, Quebec; and Boston.
