Two mountaineers from Uzbekistan have gone missing after they were hit by an avalanche while trying to scale the 8,091-metre Mount Annapurna in Nepal, located in the Western region of Nepal, officials said Thursday. An air search was unsuccessful due to dense fog. Yet, due to the challenging weather, a ground search was initiated, according to officials. More details will come as soon as new information surfaces.
This incident comes less than a month after world renowned freestyle skier Glen Plake survived an avalanche on the slopes of nearby Mount Manaslu, also located in the Western region of Nepal. Unfortunately, 11 fellow climbers were not as lucky.
