Target has announced that they have signed a partnership with professional freeskier Rosalind Groenewoud. Athletes hailing from a number of disciplines represent Target in action sports. With this agreement, the Canadian half-pipe sensation is joining the likes of Shaun White, Simon Dumont, Torin Yater-Wallace, Paul Rodriguez, Kolohe Andino, Ryan Dungey, Kevin Robinson and Carissa Moore.
“It is just amazing to be a part of the Target team,” said Groenewoud. “I am really lucky to partner with a brand that is so progressive. I also really admire Target’s commitment to giving, especially their focus on supporting schools. Being that I’m working toward my college degree, I appreciate the brand’s commitment to education.”
Roz G has made a name for herself throughout the competitive freestyle circuit for her progressive style and arsenal of creative tricks.
This past season Groenewoud, who is already a two time AFP Women’s Overall World Champion (2009 & 2010) was named 2012 Women’s Halfpipe World Champion! The British Columbia-native took home gold medals at both the Winter X Games in Aspen and the X Games Europe earlier this year. Her winning run in Aspen, Colorado earned her a score of 93.66, which is currently the highest in Women’s Ski Superpipe history!
“What impresses us most about Roz is her thoughtful approach to life as an athlete. She has set lofty goals for herself that reach far beyond the snow, and it’s clear she will be a great representative of Target,” said Devin O’Brien, manager, Lifestyle Marketing, Target. “We’re excited to partner with Roz on her future athletic successes, philanthropic goals and her positive influence on women’s sports.”
Target is opening its very first stores in Canada in March 2013 — making this new relationship between Target and Roz G a perfect fit.
With the new competitive season amping up, we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Miss. Groenewoud. It’s definitely going to be an exciting winter!
