Lindsey Vonn and HEAD Skis have made an exciting announcement confirming that the champion skier has signed on to represent the ski company for the next 10 years! The agreement marks the continuation of skiing’s most coveted sponsorship, and will ensure that Vonn continues to shred in HEAD skis and boots for what will most likely be remainder of her racing career.

Lindsey Vonn - Head SkisThe four-time overall World Cup champion, and Olympic gold medalist has been supported by HEAD Skis since 2009. At just 28 years old, Vonn has successfully elevated women’s alpine skiing to a level never before achieved. During her time on HEAD equipment, Vonn has secured 31 World Cup wins, 5 World Championship medals (two gold), 16 World Cup globes and a Gold and Bronze at the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010. This past season, Vonn set a world record for most points earned by a female skier, and was just 20 points shy of matching the men’s record!

As another World Cup season begins, it is already clear that Vonn is on a quest to take her performance and the visibility of skiing to even greater heights! With so much on the line, such commitment can only affirm the level of confidence Vonn has in her choice of equipment.

Lindsey Vonn is one of the most talented, most revered, most accomplished and groundbreaking athletes in the history of sport,” said Head CEO Kevin Kempin. It is hard to find any athlete in any sport currently performing while enjoying such a legacy. She is a living legend and we at Head are honored that she has chosen our skis for the next 10 years.”

There is little need to question the impact Lindsey has had upon the sport of alpine skiing. She is a media darling, and looks as good as she skis. In an era where the international competition has never been fiercer, Vonn consistently leads the pack across several alpine disciplines. Dutifully serving in her roles as a leading member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team, and as a role model for her many fans, Lindsey Vonn has done more, and in less time than any female athlete in skiing’s history.

“I was fortunate enough to be able to direct Lindsey Vonn in “The Story,”" said Ski Channel CEO Steve Bellamy. Although her accomplishments shine so brightly…her personality, enthusiasm and spirit are right up there with her skills on the hill. The camera LOVES her. She is a flat out pro. I have not been in the presence of too many people who speak so eloquently and have such a command of presence on screen. To me Lindsey seems as talented off the hill as she is on.”

Ms. Vonn has come a long way from her humble beginnings as a young girl skiing in Buck Hill, Minnesota. Upon relocating to Vail, Colorado during her early teens, Vonn began her journey to become the international skiing sensation she is known as today. One of the most endearing aspects of Vonn’s career has been the level of integrity in which she operates. Lindsey’s story began with recognition of great talent, but achieved success through her hard work and perseverance. It is her attitude towards life and dedication to the craft of skiing that makes Lindsey such an attractive athlete within the industry.

“Lindsey embodies all that we highly value at Vail Resorts – hard work, dedication, passion and commitment to excellence – and is truly the greatest U.S. skier in the history of the sport. Her achievements on and off the snow make her an outstanding role model, especially for every child participating in the sport. We could not be prouder to support her and congratulate her on continuing to bring the sport of ski racing to the forefront. We’ll be cheering loudly from Vail during every one of her races this season,” said Rob Katz, chairman and chief executive officer of Vail Resorts.

As Vonn begins her quest to capture additional podiums, and break even more records during the 2012/2013 FIS Alpine World Cup, we can all rest easy knowing her equipment needs are in the hands of skiing’s top experts. It only makes sense that one of the best female skiers in the world would want to partner with the most successful brand on World Cup scene.
