Mammoth Mountain celebrated its opening day on Thursday, officially kicking off the winter ski and snowboard season for the Sierra Mountains. Eager shredders flocked to the resort en mass to get in on the first runs of the season, and to take part in four days of opening weekend festivities.

If you haven’t done so, this weekend will be your last opportunity to lock in your MVP Season Pass at the same price as last year. The pass will cost $799 on Saturday and Sunday, but is going to increase to $899 on Monday. If you are on the fence, consider this; not only will the pass be paid off in only 8 visits, but you’ll have the opportunity to ride any time you want all season. Last season, Mammoth was open until Memorial Day — so you’ve got plenty of time to get your turns in, and maximize your purchase.
