We’ve just received word that Olympic and World Cup Skiing Champion Lindsey Vonn has been taken to a hospital in Vail, Colorado. ESPN and USA Today are reporting that the skier has been admitted for an undisclosed illness. As of late Monday afternoon, no additional information has been released by Vonn’s spokesperson, Lewis Kay or the hospital.
Vonn has been stateside ever since competing in the World Cup season opener in Soelden, Austria at the end of October. While there was a second event in Levi, Finland this past weekend, Lindsey Vonn and her teammate Julia Mancuso had opted to stay stateside in order to focus their training efforts on the upcoming Nature Valley Winternational. The event is scheduled for November 24-25 in Aspen, Colorado.
Lindsey is one of the most beloved members of the international skiing community. She earned a gold and bronze at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and is a four-time World Cup Overall Champion — but most of all; she is an incredibly sweet human being who brightens the world whether she is on and off the slopes. We’ll keep you updated to Lindsey’s condition as more information is released — hopefully everything turns out okay. Until then, lets do our best to send positive vibes to our favorite alpine skier.
