Recognition has been given to a well-deserved athlete, Taylor Fletcher. In Klingenthal, Germany, the FIS Nordic Combined Athlete of the Week award was given to Taylor Fletcher of the U.S. Ski Team. Last weekend was Fletcher’s first podium finish for 3rd place and 5th place finish in Seefeld, Austria. Throughout the recent competitions, he has proven to be worthy of the award since he has been the fastest cross country leg four times. Like his older brother Bryan Fletcher who won the Athlete of the Week award in 2012, Tyler stands out equally with his amazing talent in the snow.
Taylor commented on his recognition,
“It is a great honor to receive athlete of the week from FIS. With all the hard work that I have put in throughout the summer and fall, it is really nice to see my results to get high enough for World Cup podiums. It has always been a dream of mine to get a World Cup podium and now I feel like I can get many more. My level of skiing is rock solid from the great coaching and belief that I can achieve these results. Every weekend I feel as though now I can start to build on my results and slowly start to feel more success. I look forward to a great weekend here in Klingenthal before we head to Sochi”.
Dave Jarrett, Head Nordic Combined Coach proudly stated about Taylor’s accomplishment, “We are psyched for the honor for Taylor. He has been working hard and now is seeing the dividends. He is competing at his average level and now his average level is good enough for the World Cup podium. That is a testament to his work ethic and belief he could get there”.
Be ready to watch Taylor Fletcher and fellow U.S. teammates compete in a series of events this weekend in Klingenthal.
