When it comes to the Girl Riders Organization, girls are all about having fun in action sports. The stoke ignited by GRO has doubled every year, including the Third Annual GRO Snow Ladies Day event celebrated in Washington’s Stevens Pass Resort on February 3rd. From little girls to grandmas, women of all ages and abilities participated in the GRO Snow event to share the love and passion for snowboarding and skiing. With 264 pre-registered participants of GRO Snow, many more female on-lookers joined in the epic communal gathering to shred Stevens Pass Resort.

GRO Crew members guided participants in small groups based on skill level to experience the mountain in a unique way with instruction and tips. Ladies were able to try new features and progress while making new friends. Encouragement was high for many as some women hopped on a board for the first time with a new-found addiction.

GRO Snow Director Pam Miller, commented on GRO Snow’s efforts, “It’s not about being the best on the mountain…it’s about being on the mountain, learning and

growing together, skiers and boarders, all ages, all abilities.”

Event sponsors such as Burton hooked-up demo boards for girls to try the newest snow equipment. For chicks who ski, Spider Ski & Sport offered ski demos for special gear for women. Two huge raffles provided by event sponsors, hooked up girls with snow swag including 3 new snowboards. Ladies were re-energized with a PB&J bar sponsored by EVO and Vitamin Water. KIND bars, Coconut Water and Honest Tea were also given to the girls.

By the end of the day, awards were given out by Zumiez for “Most Seasoned Shredder” , “Most Improved”, “Most Stoked” and “Best Teacher”. With the positive attitude and stoke, it would’ve been easy to give every rider these awards.

Because of GRO, the positive impact of women in action sports has grown.  To be involved in GRO's positive movement, check out GRO for other awesome upcoming events:
