U.S. ski athlete Sarah Hendrickson is on a roll as she leads 5 of the U.S. women’s ski jumping team to top 13 in the World Cup on Saturday. After an intense competition in Ljubno, Slovenia, Park City local Sarah Hendrickson finished 2nd on the podium to make it her seventh podium finish of the season. Following Hendrickson to the top 13 to represent the U.S. jumping team was Jessica Jerome finishing 6th, Lindsey Van in 8th, Alissa Johnson for 12th and Abby Hughes for 13th.

Dominant competitor Sara Takanashi from Japan, has won her third consecutive World Cup event. With a two jump total of 225.1 meters, Takanashi is in high hopes of grabbing the overall title. Sarah Hendrickson completed two solid jumps of 214.2 meters as France’s Coline Mattel finished in third place with 212.1 meters. Jessica Jerome made it over 200 meters with jumps of 82 meters and 82.5 meters to land in 6th place.
Enthusiastic about the event results, Hendrickson stated, “I’m really very satisfied because I could show two good jumps,” Hendrickson said. “My goal for tomorrow (Sunday) is to focus on my technique again, just like today. Congratulations to Sara (Takanashi), she is having great performances.”
The U.S. team is currently in the lead for the Nations Cup race with Slovenia following in 2nd place. Only three more World Cup event are left for this season. Ljubno’s last event is Sunday while the two remaining events take place in Norway. Get ready to see these amazing athletes in the individual event on February 22 and February 24 for the mixed team event on the weekend.
