On Saturday, April 6, 2013, High Roller Hold ‘Em will go big with a massive big-air jump created by Snow Park Technologies (SPT). Known for creating the world’s best competition venues, SPT has created epic features, including those in the Winter X Games.
SPT President Chris Gunnarson shared his thoughts on awesome event, “With Lake Tahoe providing one of the most spectacular backdrops in the world, Heavenly is an amazing venue for big-air competitions like High Roller Hold ’Em. After the success of the Nike Chosen event last year, you can bet your whole stack that we’re going to take the competition and the party to the next level. This format breaks the traditional mold for big air competitions and incorporates a mental strategy to complement the riders’ physical talent.”

In this unique poker-style format, each competitor will be dealt two cards in which each card consists of a different trick. Every rider will bet on the trick of their choice from the deck of cards and must land the trick during that specific jump to win the round. The rider that lands the most intense and difficult trick will win that round and qualify for the big cash in the super final. During the super final, each competitor will be dealt a greater selection of cards of three.
Snowboard star Shaun White commented on the epic event, “What better place to combine the thrills of snowboarding and poker than Heavenly. South Lake Tahoe is a pretty unique destination and this event is the brainchild of my friend Chris Gunnarson who is very talented and a huge part of snowboarding. I’m going to go all in and say, it’s gonna’ go off.”
The awesome night-time snowboarding event full of fireworks, athletes, laser lights and music sponsored by Red Bull and GoPro will be shown live on ESPN3.
