Rahlves’ Banzai Tour is bringing more fun with KT-22 Banzai tour stop at Squaw Valley with the rowdiest ski and snowboard entertainment to the annual Snowfest! With the opening weekend celebrations of SnowFest! in North Lake Tahoe, the combination of the insane ski/ boarder-cross competition and the most anticipated annual festival will reap epic results. During March 1-3, a ridiculous amount of exciting events will take place such as Banzai pre and après parties, an opening ceremony torchlight parade and the Banzai race.
The word “Banzai” is a Japanese term expressed as an enthusiastic cheer meaning, “Long Life!” or “Hurray!” This term definitely represents the thrill and camaraderie of the Rahlves’ Banzai Tour which involves four athletes racing full-speed over natural and complex, downhill terrain in ski and border-cross style. The original event from the 1940’s was revived by Daron Rahlves. Former World Champion, 12-time World Cup winner, X-Games Gold Medalist and four-time Olympic skier and Sugar Bowl Resort Ambassador Daron Rahlves revived the race in 2009 to take the event and share it with the snow community, calling it “Rahlves’ Banzai Tour”.

Event mastermind Daron Rahlves commented on the event, “The KT-22 Banzai is always one of the most exciting parts of the tour because of the great view of the course from the base of the mountain,” said Daron Rahlves. “Spectators get to watch athletes give it their all down the face of KT-22, which embodies everything the Banzai Tour is really about; the competition, athleticism, and most importantly, the enjoyment and camaraderie of the ski and snowboard community.”
To start the exciting weekend with a bang, “Rahlves’ Banzai Welcome Party” welcomes competing athletes, sponsors, media and special guests to have a good time at Sandy’s Pub in the Resort at Squaw Creek from 4-6PM on Friday. Following the welcome party, the annual opening ceremony torch light parade kicks off the fun weekend with all of the athletes and spectators.
Experience the “Banzai” spirit on March 2-3 during the third leg of the Rahlves’ Banzai Tour, KT-22 Banzai. Winners of each tour stop will have the chance to compete in the “Super Final” on Mar. 9-10 against ski legend, Daron Rahlves. With an $80,000 prize purse, competition is sure to be crazy.
