With the amazing feats throughout the season, Ted Ligety has already reached legendary status. Yet, Ligety continues to obliterate records within the ski world. Wrapping up the record- breaking season with an action-packed weekend in Switzerland, Ted Ligety has earned 3rd place overall in the Audi FIS World Cup. Slaughtering his previous best score of 2008, Ligety upped his points from 898 to 1,022 in giant slalom.

Not to mention, Ligety’s absolute domination in giant slalom races led him to stand on the podium in all eight of them with six of those races a win. No other man has won six or more World Cup giant slalom races in a single season except for ski legend Ingemar Stenmark.
Just last week, Ligety locked in his fourth Audi FIS Alpine World Cup giant slalom after winning in Kransjka Gora, Slovenia. In addition, Ligety won three gold medals in three different disciplines including super G, super combined and giant slalom. Elected by respectable athletes, Ligety was recently awarded the Run of the Year for his 2.4 second dusting of the first run in Alta Badia, Italy.

Ted Ligety commented on his accomplishments and still aims for improvement, “This year was great. GS was an amazing season. World Championships was amazing. I just have some work to do in slalom and hope that I can maintain my level in super G and move up a little bit there too. Hopefully I can step it up next year and give Hirscher a run for his money. So we’ll see.”
